Cat Chat
This month's guest Scarlett from Fighting Felines

As I sat in my red blouse and black skirt I awaited a legend, the legend was a fiery redhead named Scarlett from Fighting Felines. As i watched her enter i shifted in the leather chair She took a seat crossed her legs and smiled at me she was in a white blouse and balck skirt the two of us both wearing black stockings.

Sharon: Welcome Scarlett to Interview with a catfighter.

Scarlett:Hey Sharon! It's such a pleasure to be chosen as first girls you selected, for your new "Interview with a Catfighter" feature. And, of course, you chose the RIGHT two!! (LOL)

SHARON: My first question to you would be, how did you get started in catfighting?

SCARLETT: Besides the obvious squabbling two girls do on an average day, Shandy and I had both done some "bikini wrestling" and similar jobs before we ever met - in clubs, back in the day, and for films. You may have heard we starred in one in 1999 called, "TEAPARTY" which still runs in indie film festivals in Los Angeles. I have a bunch of theatre experience, using combat/fight skills and gymnastics.

SHARON: Was Fighting Felines your first site, or had you and Shandy been on another website like catfighters.com?

SCARLETT: FF is the the first "real" site on which we appeared in any planned catfight scenario. You may know that our mentor, Frank Rusha, discovered us by seeing some grainy webcam photos posted by a young UCLA graduate in 1998. This guy had an idea to start a bachelor party agency, which featured catfights as an entertainment gimmick. We were the first two girls hired. Rusha contacted us in the middle of the night with an email - we thought it was completely bogus and blasted him. But he was persistent - and here we are.

SHARON: What attracted you to catfighting?

SCARLETT: When we do it OUR way, it's very theatrical and creative - that appeals to me. And of course, I'm FAR more hot-headed and easily pissed-off than Shandy so --- what a natural outlet!

SHARON: Do you have a favorite attire?

SCARLETT: I gotta say, the fights we do in costume are our best. They just naturally lend themselves to the set-up of the conflict, and the situation becomes more believable. As you know, we do most of them right out in public so.....we usually gather quite a crowd. But people in Hollywood are very accustomed to seeing a film crew working on the street, so they stop, watch and move on. Rusha did us a HUGE favor by making sure we never had any nudity on FELINES, so we don't have to ever worry about that. Some occasional ripping of clothes is as far as it gets, and that makes life much easier for us. We try to plan and coordinate every piece of wardrobe in every fight, and we don't have to worry about styling undergarments this way. Excellent!

SHARON:Who is your favorite opponent?

SCARLETT: I've known Shandy for nearly 14 years, and a mountain of resentment builds up in a long relationship like that. Needless to say, that resentment is relieved quite a bit by the occasional punch or two - we're totally working on it! There are a few chicks recently on FF whom I plan to (ahem) "encounter" in Los Angeles in February -- Devin and Brandy specifically. I have a thing or two to say to both of them.....

SHARON: Are there other sites you visit?

SCARLETT: I appreciate the legendary Miss Tina for the incredible breadth of knowledge she has on this subject. Lord knows I can always learn something!

SHARON:Have you ever fought irl?

SCARLETT: Well Sharon, yeah, it has happened. But, as I have tried to argue with fgsll about a thousand times, REAL fights don't happen with cute chicks in great hair and makeup, dresses and heels, and go on for 100 frames and end up in some absurd victory pose. Every one I've been in (and there have been more than a few) feature broken bottles, knives, guns, LAPD, somebody going to jail and a hefty fine for disorderly conduct and other charges. Real fights take about 30 seconds. There's nothing cute or charming about them. Nor have I EVER seen one happen with two chicks fighting over some guy, no matter what their deluded male egos tell them. That's another thing I don't understand about these stupid cyberfights --- what's the point?? Are you kidding me???? And why not just say, "Scarlett drives by with an AK, shoots whoever and that successfully ends that - fight over - everybody logs off". So - if they want the truth, I've got it. But it's not June Cleaver in some office in a dress. Puhleeze!

SHARON: Have you ever done nudity on another site?

SCARLETT: Yes, we have done a bunch. We worked for many pantyhose sites, most of which are long gone now. We been hired by many, many photographers, both professional and definitely NOT professional, for both private collections and for commercial endeavors. I can't remember even one fourth of them. And that's probably a good thing! Of course, we never used the names "Shandy" and "Scarlett" anywhere but FF and Slip Kittens. So - cyber-MacGuyvers, go ahead and see if you can find that stuff ---- betcha can't!!!! We were interviewed to do topless/nude videos by at least 4 well-known catfight companies in Los Angeles, a few days before we were recruited by Rusha in 2000. The miracle was - something always prevented us from signing with those companies, no matter how hard we tried. But, if we had done that, we surely would not be here now. And we'd never been have been able to overcome the stigma of that.

SHARON:Has anything ever embarrasing happened on a photo shoot? If so, what was it?

SCARLETT: Good one. As impromptu as our shoots are, they usually go really smoothly once they start (which is good, since they're rarely done privately). We seem to always forget that we have to get back HOME after the fight - I have a convertible and we are forever driving down Sunset Blvd. in ripped clothes and smeared makeup --- how charming. I remember clearly doing that after "Bridal Brawl" - bright afternoon sunlight, me driving in a torn, peach satin bridesmaid dress and Shandy, in what was left of her bridal gown. But in Hollywood, people barely noticed.

SHARON: Do you plan to continue fighting?

SCARLETT: We totally do. In fact, I'm going to Hollywood in February and we are planning new galleries, with Shandy, Devin and Brandy for starters. We have at least one or two surprises up our (ripped) sleeves.

SHARON: If so, how long?

SCARLETT: I think that depends on the interest of fans. We were lucky to find a niche which nobody can really fill - it's a combination of the chemistry between us, the Hollywood setting and vibe, and our amazing photographer. We don't try to be remotely serious - we chose to be campy, whimsical and very over-the-top -- and people liked it. Nobody was more amazed than us, but we knew it was really the only way we COULD do it. Rusha did give us the freedom to do it our way. Yes, Mother Nature determines there is a deadline for being on-camera and that will end it for me. Shandy, on the other hand, has been the photographer for many galleries (Angie vs. me in the parking lot; Angie vs. me in the Body Shop strip club; and the first 3 or 4 galleries we did and others). She's good behind the camera and has a lot of interest in that - she also has been the sole owner and doing the maintenance of the site for many years, building it into what it is - no assistance from me at all. So she may be able to do it for quite awhile, if she decides that is what she wants.

SHARON: Once again, thank you so much for your help.

SCARLETT: Our pleasure --- meow!
