Spice Girls shoes trigger fight Abertillery, Wales. May2000 Two hairdressers began fighting each other in a row over “Spice Girl” platform trainers. Stylist Jackie Hunter, 26, clashed with saloon owner Diana Lewis, 44, for wearing the platform trainers. Mrs Lewis criticised blonde Jackie for wearing the chunky blue and white trainers while cutting hair. It triggered a salon showdown with a fight between the two women. Ms Hunter told the tribunal: “Mrs Lewis was shouting at me and I was so upset I was shouting back. She ran at me and grabbed my throat with both hands. Then she punched me in the mouth and cut my lip. I was pushed back into the shelves and gel splashed all over me. She said Mrs Lewis had left her with a cut lip after the fight. Mrs Lewis said Jackie swore at her then lunged forward _ and she then grabbed her wrists in self-defence. She said Ms Hunter’s cut lip could have been caused by her catching her face on her wedding ring as they fell over. Mrs Lewis said only one customer – an elderly woman – was in the salon when the brawl broke out. The Tribunal dismissed the claim for unfair dismissal, accepting Mrs Lewis’s version of events. Street Fight Jan 2000 A Birkenhead mother kicked her neighbours face during a street fight. It started after an argument between children and the then partner of Eve James (25) became involved. Although it was not her argument she was egged on by her partner, who had encouraged both women to fight. The fight began with the two women pulling each others hair. They ended up on the ground, where Eve James kicked the other lady in the face. James had bite marks on her fingers.
