Dear Tina,

In 1974 a friend and I decided to take our savings and set out to see Hollywoood, California. Hollywood was exciting and as soon as we arrived we rented an apartment and set out to find employment. We stopped at a gas station/car wash to fill up and wash the old chevy and to my amazement a woman was the gas pump attendant. I struck up a conversation with her and I explained we had never seen a woman attendant she laughed and said "if you think this is different you should come to the gym and watch me train-I'm a professional wrestler." That was the day I met Aggie Henry and we became fast friends. I went to the gym with her and as I sat at the desk with Mildred Burke and watched Aggie and all the ladies train I said I can do that. Mildred laughed and pulled a contract from her desk and said "if your really want to try it read and sign this." Of course I did as she said without a second thought not realizing just who I was talking to or what I was about to do. If anyone thinks that being a wrestler is easy they should give it a try! We trained every evening for hours and although Millie had a trainer there were times she would come in the ring and show us something herself. The first time Mildred Burke grabbed me and put me in a hold I was totally taken back. She was stronger than any woman I had ever met ! She was also the best manager and friend a wrestler could have.

My favorite match had to be in Hiroshima, the auditorium was completely full with people sittting on friends shoulders to see in the windows outside. We were really hyped that night and all three of us fought the best match of the Japan tour. Somehow we were seperated from our security guards leaving the auditorium and we put our backs together and had to fight our way out. It gave a whole new meaning to audience participation!!

I have so many memories, thank you for letting me share a few. I hope this answered some of the questions. I must close for now!

Sincerely,
